All closed. The world shrunk to your own four walls. The perspectives are as big as windows, the outside world is unreal and dull through the glass. But all of a sudden, life comes crashing back with a vengeance. As desired, hoped for and wanted as the return to normality may be, one question arises: "What do we do now with the feeling that everything is open to us again?" . The simultaneity of the events confuses the uniformity of the last 2 years and instead of running, the situation overwhelms us and it remains with standstill and the question: "What first? With whom and where? What feels right?" We have this summer, at least. And we're hungry for more.
A lot of incredible things have happened. The pandemic has put the world as we all knew it into pause mode and turned the lives we are all familiar with and seemingly in control of upside down. We learned to cope and live with masks, tests and social distancing. Realized that you can't and don't always have to have everything right away. Postponing concerts became routine, existential fears a mainstream topic. And then the war. A war in Europe.End of the euphoria that had just flared up. Again a "What now?". A "Where to with the 'us' that just wanted to show itself again". An attempt to function quickly in order to help.
Clearly, the last years and experiences have not left cold such an alert artist as Fiva, have not not been able to inspire her. Because after the unintentional pressing of the global stop button, she also asked herself many questions, dealt with imponderables of the forcedly gained "freedom" and the abundance of possibilities that also came with it. One of them was for Fiva to become a juror on the casting show "Starmania". At the same time, like the rest of the world, she experienced firsthand that life is more than a constant urge and endless hunger for "more."
Fiva doesn't offer solutions to all these questions in her new song "So viel Meer" But she manages to describe this floating state, to give comfort and hope. "We can't do this alone.Nor do we need the one strong hand to guide us. Rather, we need each other, we need to accompany each other, to work together against the doubts, to speak openly and to find a place together where we can cope with the possibilities, obstacles, imponderables, all the uncertainty and the more," says the successful artist.
A song about all these experiences also carries the danger of willingly reaching out to pathos and kitsch. It's a danger, however, that Fiva handles with style and eloquence with David Raddish (Moop Mama, Average, Fred Owuso), her musical partner on "So viel Meer". She intentionally plays with the ambiguity of the term pair more and sea in the title, raps in her very own way about doubts being a matter of honor, makes her thoughts about social media to reach the conclusion: There is more than that in life. You just have to allow this "more",dare and above all: listen to your inner voice.
