The Nuremberg Pop Culture Award GUNDA will be presented for the first time in 2021. We have been working on the idea for years and are pleased that the time has come.
GUNDA Herbst is a controversial Nuremberg market woman who had repeatedly quarrelled with the authorities over the years. The farmer, who opened her stand on the main market in 1968, was notorious for her cunning, puns, vocal power and a pinch of anarchy, and she voiced her opinion loudly. Sometimes even tomatoes flew.
Whether it was about keeping the stand boundaries or shop closing times, GUNDA Herbst did not want to accept all the requirements and often felt bullied. She proudly had her picture taken with hundreds of tickets and fines. Because she informally talked to a police officer, she even ended up in court.
The Nuremberg Pop Culture Award GUNDA will be awarded in 3 categories in 2021:
+ NEWCOMER NATIONAL
+ ARTIST REGIONAL
In addition, the STROBOSKOP award for young talent from the Bavarian Culture Award winners of Lokale Leidenschaften will be part of the Nuremberg Pop Culture Award.
The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 7th at 6pm in the KunstKulturQuartier. Due to the current Infection Protection Rules, we will stream it live via our website www.nuernberg-pop.com.
You cannot apply to receive a GUNDA. A committee composed by Nürnberg Pop awards the prizes.
We would like to thank the GUNDA sponsors Sparkasse Nürnberg, Sparkasse Stiftung and fritz kola and the KunstKulturQuartier for their support. Thanks to you now it’s here, the Nuremberg Pop Culture Award.
